Applesauce is one of the easiest things to make. When I say no recipe I really mean it. Use your 5 senses (plus common) to peel and chop the apples into the size you prefer (the bigger the piece the chunkier the apple sauce) and then add them to a pot, add a splash of water so they don’t scorch, a pinch of salt–because remember, salt is a flavor enhancer–and some honey (but only if you think it needs it. Sometimes the apples are sweet enough by themselves.)
That’s really it. And after some stirring and letting them break down you have applesauce and know all the ingredients that went in to it.

Easy No Recipe Applesauce
- apples (as many as you like but I suggest at least 4)
- honey (optional, and to taste)
- a pinch of salt
- a splash of water
- Peel and chop the apples before adding them to pot (the size will depend on how many apples you are using) and add a pinch of salt
- Heat them over a medium/high heat and add a splash of water so they don’t stick and scorch to the bottom of the pot. Continue to stir until they begin to soften.
- Turn the heat down to low and stir occasionally until it resembles sauce. Taste it and decide if it’s sweet enough for your liking and add some honey if you’d like. As soon as you have decided it looks done (does it look like applesauce?) turn off the heat and allow to cool. Take a potato mashed or immersion blender to make a smoother sauce if you prefer before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for about a week.
